Lockwood

[personal profile] recklessenough 2024-02-08 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
AU Character Information

Character Anthony Lockwood Youngblood
Starting Court: Gold
AU Age: Lockwood was 19 when he was turned. He has been a vampire for 50 years
AU History:
  • The only child of very wealthy, old money, titled, land owning human parents.
  • His parents died when he was six years old.
  • Raised by tutors he has always been 'to the manor born'.
  • Took control of his wealth at age 13 and assumed the seat in human government vacated by his late father.
  • Caught the attention of the Gold Court vampire representative to his lands.
  • Marked for vampirehood, his Gold Court Maker began to groom him for the minefield that is vampire politics, however his Maker waited for six years before presenting Lockwood with a White Feather.
  • Lockwood was 19 years old when he was turned.
  • Lockwood has been a vampire for 50 years.
  • He is not permanent faculty at the castle, known more for continuing his education in vampire politics out in the lands.
  • GASP he actually had, and has, a good working relationship with his Maker.
  • A prodigy with a sword, he was already gifted and talented in the area of blade work even before he was brought over.
  • Oddly, given the intimate nature of such things, but Lockwood and his Maker were never lovers. The relationship is a well known little brother/big sister sort of situation.
  • Lockwood is well known as a celibate. Lady Whisperfangs loves to raise this fact whenever Lockwood is around the castle, and enjoys stirring the pot of speculation regarding who might catch Lockwood's eye.

  • General Personality: Lockwood is very outgoing and charismatic. While he is a social, gregarious person, it is also a carefully crafted defense to keep people at a safe distance. His smile is designed to distract, as well as to charm. Though he gives off the impression of being an open book, and often seems to actively court commentary from Lady Whisperfang, he is intensely private when it comes to his genuine emotions.

    Pre-existing & Desired CR

Upcoming Plans: I think I'm going to start with his Vampire History course. He loaths this course, and I want to see what ridiculous alternatives I can come up with for him to be teaching as a way to provide hooks to make new CR!
Pre-existing CR: From the TDM threads, he has established history with Xenk Yendar and Leonard McCoy. Though he looks like a novice, Lockwood is something of a mentor to Xenk. McCoy is not as well defined, but safe to say that Lockwood imagines the irascible doctor as also being under his wing. Though he doesn't meddle in McCoy's affairs as much as he does Xenk. Not to say Lockwood isn't ramping up his meddlesome habits!
Desired CR: I have really been enjoying the idea that though he looks so young, he actually has more than his fair share of youngbloods tucked up under his wing. More friends would be nice as well, characters who are aware of Lockwood's more ruthless machinations when he's out in the lands on government business.

    Desired Bond

    Seeking: Fellow Youngblood
Desired Bond: This is probably a long shot, but! I would actually be interested in possibly developing a slow burn romantic relationship for him. Maybe something that is polyamorous, given that his primary focus is on politics and the like.
Permissions Post: Permission's Post and I am also always open to a DM or a p!Plurk to discuss anything!

Can't wait for this gossip, Lockwood you are next, buddy. Whisperfangs got her eye on you and your future cavalcade of kids. So demure for a youngblood of his age!! Will the man remain at blade's length with all who seek his attention? It writes itself.

It really does, especially when he stirs the pot himself.

Again, it is actual canon that Lockwood loves the gossip pages and enjoys making them.

Set your clock, Lockwood! tomorrow: Whisperfangs. Ready your popcorn! It's gonna be juicy. Ya boy Xenk gets mentioned a few times, really making Gold Court proud...

Oh I expect to be hitting refresh like an obsessive git.

Though given my luck this week, Lady Whisperfangs will go up while I'm out running errands tomorrow. But yes! He will definitely be reading up on the antics of his boy Xenk!!

    Will Graham

    [personal profile] this_ismydesign 2024-02-08 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
    AU Character Information

    Character: Will Graham Youngblood
    Starting Court: Black
AU Age: Turned at human age 37. Has been a vampire for 42 years
    AU History:
  • As far as Will can remember he grew up in a single parent household with just his father, his mother left when he was a baby. He has always had an affinity for animals, particularly dogs, and been hopelessly awkward around people. This is due to the nature of his pure empathy, which often caused him to unconsciously adopt the mannerisms and characteristics of the people around him. Between his awkward social skills, his relatively poor upbringing, and his lack of a mother he was always seen and treated as an outsider.

  • Despite often being pushed to the outskirts of society, Will has a genuine heart and grew up with a drive to be a voice for the voiceless. This was expressed in his pursuit of a career with the local sheriffs’ department, and forever collecting stray dogs.

  • Though he had a genuine knack for being able to solve crimes, particularly homicides, his resistance to using his truncheon to subdue violent criminals became a source of contention within the department. Particularly with people who were partnered with him and concerned that his 'understanding' for the criminals would cause him to hesitate at a crucial moment and risk someone getting hurt. There were also whispers and rumors that Will didn't want to risk killing because he might like it too much.

  • In a mutually agreed upon decision Will left the local sheriffs’ department, and applied to work for a network of hunters, which were loosely coordinated across the various regions. He was denied an active field role, but was brought on board as an instructor, often traveling between different lands to help train novice hunters. Though he was not a vampire, at this time, he had a wide range of experience with the various courts (in so much as a human could have experience in the world of vampires) and was an instructor of some renown. This would be when his path initially crossed with his Maker.

  • Though his mind was considered too fragile for consistent field work, Will was occasionally tapped to help hunt down and stop some of the more vicious monsters. He did not enjoy this because it meant he had to crawl inside the psyches of some vicious killers and they often clung on, even when he helped put them down. He was a good hunter and in order to keep leveraging his talents, his immediate supervisor had the bright idea to partner Will with a high ranking vampire. This was intended to help provide Will more access into the courts, while also providing him a staid partner to keep him steady.

  • Will's supervisor did this in good faith. Will's Maker had originally been a member of the Gold Court and on the Council, someone who engendered faith and trust. What was not as widely known was that the vampire had eventually renounced his Gold Court affiliation, and his place on the Council, in order to embrace the Black Court. On the surface he spun some high brow tale to explain the reason he changed, but there were whispers about the true reasons, some saying he did it simply because the pain of the transformation amused him.

  • The connection between Will and his Maker was immediate, electric and like pouring gasoline on a smoldering fire. They brought out the best of the worst in each other, and Will's maker became obsessed with the darkness he could sense in the unstable human. Their relationship was never healthy, and an argument could be made that Will's Maker overstepped himself when he brought Will over to being a vampire. But Will has never expressed regret for his change.

  • As his Maker had completed his transformation to Black Court before he brought Will over, Will has always been Black Court. As a novice and in the first twenty years as a Youngblood, this suited Will fine as he -encouraged by his Maker- embraced his dark hunter instincts. Between them, Will and his Maker went on a killing spree that is still whispered about culminating in a vicious psychological brinksmanship when Will turned against his Maker. The core of Will's psyche, that desperate desire to be a voice for those who have no voice, eventually asserting itself and causing the Youngblood to seek an end to the cycle between himself and his Maker.

  • Ultimately Will pursued the high stakes gamble that was killing his own Maker, driven to the desperate act by the desire to end his own capacity for the atrocities they were committing. Will was prepared not to survive the near impossible act of destroying his own blood, which is perhaps why he was able to commit to the act with enough strength of will that he managed to destroy his Maker and survive. Physically at least.

  • In a rare show of mercy, the weakened and traumatized youngblood was not destroyed for the swath of destruction he and his Maker had left in their wake. Instead for the next twelve years Will was effectively institutionalized until he recovered enough to be able to display genuine remorse for his actions and a desire not to continue to lead that sort of life. Will's remorse and desire not to slide down that slippery slope is genuine, though the monster who relishes hunting and delivering righteous justice is still there under the surface.

  • For the past ten years Will has been assigned to Castle Courtsheart as an instructor. He is kept away from any sort of law enforcement, be it as an instructor or in the field. For the most part he keeps his head down, focuses on his classes and does his best to rein in the monster inside.

  • General Personality: Will's AU personality is pretty much in line with his Season One personality in canon. He is reserved, withdrawn and twitchy doing his utmost to keep his head down and his nose clean. He is not unlike a wounded animal who wants nothing more than to find a quiet hole in which to lick at his injuries.

He is carrying the weight of guilt and remorse for what he did during the years he and his Maker were playing their games; both together and against one another. This mostly expresses itself through his desire to steer young, starry eyed novices away from the Black Court and to keep people at a safe distance from Will himself.

    Pre-existing & Desired CR

Upcoming Plans: I front loaded him with plenty of trauma and don't have any plans to deliberately add more difficulty outside what comes up in game wide plots. Will is really focused on his Winter Season Courses at the moment. I would love to do more with his classes!
Pre-existing CR: Most of the youngbloods in the castle either know Will or at least know of his history. He's still in the kicked puppy phase of his recovery from what happened with his Maker, and while he doesn't have close friends, he flits in and out of social situations as the mood takes him.
Desired CR: Friends! Let's start with genuine friendly connections and work our way from there.

Man, I think Will would be a great teacher for Wyll to engage with (full disclosure I thought about changing the spelling for Wyll's name to an i as an AU name and it was too weird, so this amuses me) and just generally Wyll is quite drawn to cynics and pained souls so he'd be like "man, your life is really a story on how vampires are evil, huh"

That and I've really enjoyed his and Xenk's weird friendship so I'm happy to continue that! Bones, being a more "human" youngblood, might be wary of him due to his background but it could be fun to throw them together and see what sticks!

I would absolutely love for Will to have a student to engage with, yes pls gimmie gimmie! And yes, Will is definitely the posted child for when vampire's go bad. To be fair Will's Maker was no doubt a psychopath even before he became a vampire himself.

I've also enjoyed Will and Xenk, that Xenk is kind to the broken little Black Court member. I will keep an eye out for opportunities to throw Will at Bones (when I'm not invading your inbox with Lockwood) because I'm curious to see what they think of each other. Especially since the "angel" on Will's shoulder is definitely tied to his humanity. He needs people like Bones in his life to keep the angel's voice louder than the devil's.

Conrad would've enjoyed sitting in on Will's classes. He wouldn't have taken any Black Court classes as a student since they're voluntary, so he'd learn a thing or two by attending for sure. Plus he'd like to learn more about Will in general and he def appreciates his teaching style. It's maybe sorta inspired him to be a bit more enthusiastic about lecturing his students.

I am so sorry that I dropped the ball on your tag in to his class. RL has not been kind to me the past two months, and Lockwood's headspace is easier to inhabit then Will's.

Please feel free to assume that Will would actually have stayed after class to answer questions for Conrad and even been 'sociable' in so much as he's ever sociable. It seems so low key for all the chaos around here, but Will would have even been open to sitting and talking about lecture styles, if Conrad would have been interested in that?

Oh, I understand, sorry to hear you had a rough go of things. Conrad was mostly there to just observe, anyway. Observe and doodle, because that's what he does.

And, yeah, thanks, that sounds good. Conrad would really appreciate that and he'd be down for a bit of socializing and talking about lecturing and teacher stuff, no doubt.

friends? :3 lamorak's signed up for will's current class (and has attended the prerequisite, presumably) and if there's anything will can derive from probably psychologically profiling lamorak it's that he just really likes and cares about people, the worst off the better. he can probably sense will's deeply traumatized vibes and for that reason he probably makes an extra effort to chat with him after/outside of class, whether or not will seems particularly receptive - lamorak wouldn't expect equal amicability back, tbh! he'd remain friendly regardless. lamorak tends to be instinctively drawn to damaged people, lmao, because he wants to help / support them

Will does have a giant neon sign blinking "Damaged here!" above his head this is true!

He's not overly sociable, but he can appreciate friendly dedication towards making friends. It will be pretty cool to see how they sort themselves out when we're threading!
