february cr meme/bond makr
Looking for a Maker? Or perhaps a Novice to claim for your own? Or do you just want a fun pre-established codependent bond with your fellow youngblood? Look no further!
Welcome to the CR Meme/Bond Makr meme. For anyone who is looking to create bonds by either finding a Maker in their desired court, or for any youngbloods who are looking to give this "being a Maker" thing a try.
Or if you're not looking for a maker and just want to talk CR plans/missed connections in your character's AU past, this is the place.
You can reference the FAQ for any specifics detailing bonds or world details. Just remember to have fun!

Lamorak might have known Reyson's older brothers or sisters more than Reyson himself.

and yes, that sounds solid! if reyson particularly resembles them now that he's grown up lamorak may be "🤔 familiar..." if/when they meet in person

- the family gave offense to the cult while vacationing in Gold and they decided to go for a long term slow burn completely disproportionate revenge
- the vampire who wants the Falkenraths to suffer for more local and personal reasons is blood bonded to someone in the cult and doesn't want to be directly connected while they just. watch. and/or it's some sort of fucked up courtship thing
Gold likes to delegate so making some human do all the dirty work is on brand. Maybe the dad even befriended them enough to come to their house (to plant evidence etc...), I've seen Count of Monte Christo I know how that goes.
Reyson definitely would resemble the siblings who I have very few established details about in the AU because of choice paralysis!

HMMM... ( PUTS THESE IDEAS INTO A BLENDER BC THEY'RE ALL SO GOOD ) ... how about. the falkenraths are in red, and there is a red court vamp who has a petty reason to dislike them (perhaps that aforementioned bastard child). surely that's the culprit! but no. as part of their courtship, another vamp (perhaps gold, and of the cult) saw the red vamp's grudge against the falkenrath's and decided to ruin them and offered this dedicated effort toward their destruction as an overture of love to this spurned red court vamp. lmk what you think!
i like the idea that the dad (gahmuret, for your reference) may have visited (probably with various servants/etc, very normal to travel with so many, surely) to do some dirty work on orders of the gold vamp. the falkenraths and the house of wales (lamorak's family) may have genuinely had a fairly positive relationship prior, which gahmuret used to his advantage when told to destroy them.

For the sake of meatier background CR: The Falkenraths are/were mostly refined and well-behaved, with an excitable streak that surfaces now and then. The brother and sister around the Wales trio's age were probably into a mutual hobby with one of them (riding horses? chess? literature?) as a bonding point, Reyson would have tagged along but not been as skilled, being a much younger child. Entirely plausible that they made Lamorak look after him for the afternoon during visits a few times on the basis that "we have found you a playmate on your level of maturity".

also, one small detail since i saw the falkenraths passed ("passed") a year ago: in canon, lamorak's dad eventually passes away after going mad doing his Shady Things, and he passes on his will to the eldest brother (aglovale), who also loves and misses their mother dearly (this family is doing fine).
i was thinking of maintaining this detail in undying - so not long after the falkenrath incident, perhaps papa-san (gahmuret) passes away, so the incident seems to be, overall, a dead end, and there's a lull in activity. (and also, reyson (and any other survivors?) are left untouched while he/they scatter because there's no one on the case to follow up immediately.) then aglovale completes the transition to new head of the wales house :) carries out culty orders, etc, and, if you do choose to have reyson pursued, the chase will be back on with this guy heading the charge.
RE: BACKGROUND CR BUILDING that sounds solid to me!! "we have found you a playmate on your level of maturity" lmao help
aglovale is definitely the one who took proper activities very seriously/earnestly - chess, horseback riding, literature; all sorts of noble past times (chess actually came up in a thread recently as a thing aglovale would play, so we can def use that as the main activity! but he'd gladly engage in all of them with reyson's siblings). percival is younger, but would try to tag along in earnest. lamorak, however, would love to play with reyson even if he's much younger - c'mere he'll show you how to find all the forbidden cool things the adults don't want us to find out about in the house/gardens/wherever-- (lamorak loved exploring/climbing things, playing pranks, playing games and making things into dumb competitions, and whatever else, so he'd totally drag reyson into those things.) lamorak would have also been pretty good with potions and things at that age, so he'd probably show reyson a couple cool/flashy mixtures and such as well.
that said - if reyson's mom was nice, when lamorak was younger than he is now he probably had a habit of running up to her like 🥺 (attention please)... would go out of his way to ask her things instead of asking the servants etc... (lamorak never got over his mother passing). in general if the wales fam met with the falkenraths often enough (over the years?), i think lamorak would feel a sense of care for them and would be legitimately pretty upset to hear about their tragedy. (oops...)
the falkenrath kids probably only knew the wales family after their mother passed, and the air about them was probably very stiff, but it was clear they all loved each other very much. (reyson's parents may have known lamorak's parents when both were still alive - the mother was a big ray of sunshine unto the whole family, and they lost that.) eventually, percival and lamorak left home, and, in more recent years, gahmuret's behavior grew increasingly more erratic... ominous!
SORRY THIS COMMENT IS SO LONG PHEW

I love giving him some peace and paranoia before oops time for more of this shit!! I have so much I want to do with Reyson and some of it is eventually someone tries to murder him. We can do a plot about it!!
Reyson's canonical childhood slightly older kid who looked after him was also a clever bastard fellow with complicated family betrayal business going on so this is so ideal. He's always been curious and outgoing but was not as... (gestures at personality) pre-massacre especially as a child. Still touchy, though! Easily offended but easy to get back into his good graces by showing him the cool forbidden things. Definitely swore he was never going to speak to Lamorak ever again multiple times. He was a delicate child but also game for getting into exciting adventures and falling out of trees and not letting it put him off for long.
I'll continue to play improv with Reyson's siblings (he has like six of them in canon, only three of whom have any actual appearances or details. Too much sibling, choice paralysis). Lilia was the oldest, she would have been the chess fiend.
For now I focus in on mom, who has absolutely no canon info. Blank slate!
Okay, one piece of canon info - her youngest daughter looks a lot like her. Let's call her Raizel to fit the alternating generation L-R names. Raizel is Loreziah's second wife, hence the age gap between sibling groups. There isn't a notable amount of stepmother drama, but she makes up for it in spades in inheritance drama.
Public knowledge: she grew up poor and was a stage actress for a time before finding out she was the long lost heir to a fortune and reclaimed her birthright.
Behind the scenes: first part of that is true but she is not the heir, she is the right age and had the signature heirloom because the rightful owner sold it to her. Said rightful owner is the woebegone vampire the Wales family manipulator is trying to court.
Her personality, as Lamorak would have known her: a kind and welcoming woman successfully trying to act like a proper lady in spite of her common upbringing. She would have found his shenanigans delightful and been deliberately ineffective at preventing them.
